Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other marked cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the incident," they added.
Local authorities said they were working "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.
A senior political figure said the attack made him without words and required to be resolved quickly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
