Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault resulted in the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

These detentions come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals injured by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
