The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Anger About Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the revised method more closely matches similar services.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.
Manual Updates
A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
